SUMMER PROGRAM


NORTH CENTRAL PROVIDES A 3 DAY PER WEEK STRENGTH TRAINING AND SPEED IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM. SESSIONS ARE MONDAY, WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY. MOST TRAINING SESSIONS ARE 90 MINUTES. THE FIRST 50 MINUTES ARE DEVOTED TO WEIGHT TRAINING AND THE FINAL SEGMENT IS USED FOR SPEED IMPROVEMENT.


ALL HEAD COACHES ARE GIVEN INFORMATION EACH JANUARY ABOUT THE SUMMER PROGRAM. EACH COACH IS ASKED TO SELECT A TIME PERIOD FOR THEIR TEAM. THE COACHES THAT REQUEST A SESSION ARE SCHEDULED FOR THAT SUMMER. ATHLETES THAT THEIR COACH DID NOT REQUEST A SESSION ARE ALLOWED TO COME TO ANY TIME PERIOD. HOWEVER, THEY MUST ATTEND THE SAME TIME PERIOD EACH DAY.


ALL SUMMER WORKOUT SHEETS ARE COMPUTER GENERATED MUCH LIKE DURING WEIGHT TRAINING CLASSES. THE WORKOUT IS BASED ON THE ATHLETES FINAL 1 REP MAX TEST OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. IN-COMING FRESHMAN ARE TAUGHT THE LIFTS AND THEN TESTED ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH THE SUMMER PROGRAM. ALL ATHLETES ARE TESTED DURING FINAL WEEK OF THE SUMMER PROGRAM AND COACHES ARE GIVEN THE RESULTS. IN SOME SPORTS AWARDS ARE GIVEN FOR SUMMER ACHIEVEMENT.
